My name is Howard and I have a Portuguese Water Dog which I purchased back in May 2006 from the Starr Kennel Group.
Under their recommendation I have been feeding my dog, Oreo, raw food in the form of stews consisting of vegetables and raw meat products and containing no cereals or wheat products.
For the past three years Oreo has great sparkling teeth, a healthy shiny black coat of fur, no offensive breath and unnoticeable feces odor. I believe this is doing my dog a great service in going a long way to promote her good health as she has not been sick a day since I took her home in May of 2006.

I would like to give praise to Paws-itively Raw foods!! Lets start from the beginning 3 years ago I lost one of my best friends, a wonderful male Westie name Max.
He was only 5 years old (not old for the breed) He was diagnosed with major internal stomach problems that could not be corrected and we lost him. I to this day blame commercial dog food.
But what was I going to feed? Well I met Janice Starr and she introduced me to their raw food, and I have never looked back. I right away put my other two dogs on Paws-itively Raw and I know I increased my labs life for at least 2 more years he was 15 1/2 when we also lost him.
I have since raised 2 more Westies and a Portuguese Water Dog totally on raw.
They are the healthiest dogs I have owned, and I have had a lot as I was a Westie breeder for years.
I am a dog groomer and see many types of dogs, lots with bad skin, dull coats, and health issues.

Our Porty, Isabelle, is a 4th generation PWD on Paws-itively Raw Foods and we could not be happier. We feel so privileged to have met Janice , Norm and Lisa when we started our dog buying years. They steered us confidently in the right direction.

Steve - "My three dogs have been fed exclusively..."

My three dogs have been fed exclusively on Paws-itively Raw Food since they were weaned. The older ones are now 5-years old, full of energy, and have white teeth and glossy coats. Visits to the vet are rare, just an annual check up to receive their clean bill of health.
I recently switched our cats from commercial kibble & canned foods to the raw diet. It’s been about a month now and even the finicky cat loves her new food. She never ate very well before but now has her head in the bowl almost before it hits the ground. She’s also added 2 lbs to her original weight of 8.5 lbs. The others love the raw food too and clean out their bowls at each meal (much to the dogs’ disappointment).
What I appreciate most is that the litter boxes don’t stink nearly as much as they used to. I no longer need the gas mask while cleaning them out. Based on my experience with my pack of carnivores, the raw diet is the only way to go.

I am writing this letter to thank Janice and Norm and to tell anyone willing to listen that switching my 10 1/2 yr. old American Eskimo to raw foods saved his life.
My two dogs received their annual shots (a mistake) on June 5th. Spanky (our American Eskimo) became ill about a month later. We took him to our vet and was told he had pancreatitis, and was treated with antibiotics and soft canned food. He finished the pills and only got worse as weeks went by. This vibrant dog could not walk up two steps to our porch. We literally carried him around.
Through my nephew we were told about the raw food diet and how it helped his puppy, so with nothing to lose, I looked up Janice and paid a visit. She immediately told us to stop his normal feeding of hard kibbles or even canned food. We did this and slowly transformed him to raw foods. It has been over a month now and Spanky has been given a new life. He runs and jumps like he did 5 years ago.
We have just started our 9 yr. old Sheltie on the raw diet and we expect to see him live a longer, healthier life now.

Our 11 year old miniature poodle, Valentino (Val), had regular bouts of bleeding colitis and vomiting for years. We could almost call the days he’d be sick. We started him on a Paws-itively Raw Foods diet about four months ago even though the vet had reservations and he is an older dog. We were desperate. None of the foods anyone recommended helped. Nothing worked.
The benefits of a raw diet have been outstanding. No more bleeding colitis, very little stomach upset, no more runny stool to try to pick up in the grass. His stool actually bounces it is so dry. His breath is also better smelling.
We wish we’d started him on a raw diet the day we brought him home from the breeder. It would have saved us a lot of frustration and many vet bills.

I adopted a Jack Russell cross over a year ago. She had ear and digestive problems from the time I got her. After several failed attempts with different brands of dog food, many trips to the vet and my dog getting sicker I couldn’t watch her suffer anymore. She was on pills to stop her from being sick but I could tell the dog was not well.
Someone suggested Paws-itively Raw Foods and I have never looked back. After a few weeks, she was a different dog. Finally, a happy, healthy, energetic little friend.
I also have a 17 year old Shih Tzu cross that was on his last legs. He too has benefited from Paws-itively Raw Food.
Complete strangers have come up to me twice now and commented on how beautiful his coat is. He’s never had a comment like that in his whole life! When I tell them he’s 17, they can’t believe how good he looks.

Brenda - "This is Bear’s story..."

We own an 11 year old Golden Retriever (Bear) who has been eating Paws-itively Raw Dog Food for almost 6 years now. This is Bear’s story. Bear had a chronic problem with ear infections (every 6 to 8 weeks). We were constantly running to the vet to get medication and cultures done. He also had problems with his skin flaking along with a terrible odor which meant bathing weekly. This can be a tough job with such a large dog. He also suffered with hot spots which at times required medication. Our vet, whom we no longer see, was unable to diagnose a food allergy. I had phoned our Breeder and talked to her about this – she offered a solution other than raw (at the time she did not know about the raw diet available) which prompted a call to a local pet food store. The gentleman who ran the store was the one who diagnosed Bear. We then tried several, more expensive, “all natural" dog foods which provided some relieve but only for a few months at a time – until Bear became intolerant. On one of Bear’s visits for grooming I called the groomer to inform her he had yet another ear infection and this is when she put me on to your product. She was attending a seminar that weekend and said she would talk to me after that. What did we have to lose? – poor Bear was suffering and so was our pocket book!
We immediately started bear on Paws-itively Raw Chicken and supplement him with veggies and vitamins. Within about 3 weeks we started noticing a difference. Bear was more lively, he didn’t smell and his stools were smaller and less smelly too! Also his breath was better. It was right around that time that we had him neutered and because he was under already had his teeth cleaned. That was 6 years ago and his teeth are still quite clean (75%). Over the past six years I have found around 10 - 12 hot spots (all very small) and he has had 6 - 8 ear infections.
Our new vet did not recommend changing him to your diet but we felt we had nothing to lose. Our vet now says “well I can’t complain given the results".
Your product costs us a little more, food-wise, but in the end it has been such a beneficial thing for Bear that we don’t care. Of course, our vet bills are way down too!

I know of no Regulation for (freshness dating) pet foods. I don’t know about other brands, but the one I’m very familiar with: Paws-itively Raw (I personally know and trust the people who make it) has a ‘packaged date’... ensuring it was packed on that date.
Works for me (2 Lhasas & a Poodle)... I use it up before 3 months time has passed for sure. (Each food type is best used before 3 to 6 mos. for nutritional values).
Oh, regarding Regulations, I guess that’s left up to the honesty of the pet food companies...

Our 5 year old Golden Retriever has suffered from food allergies all her life. She had previously been on a low-allergen exclusive premium dog food (ZED-D). Even though she still continued with her itchy skin and chronic ear infections, I felt there was nothing more we could do. When I first heard about your raw dog food and it’s benefits, I was very hesitant. I didn’t think it would be healthy or safe and our vet did not approve.
After many discussions with Janice and other “believers", I felt we needed to try a raw diet. It has been over month now and I cannot believe the difference in her! Her ears are clean, her coat shines, her teeth are white and she actually has fresh breath! She would constantly bite at her paws because of the itchiness and I haven’t noticed her doing that at all.

Irene and Gerry - "I have been raising Cocker Spaniels for 25 years..."

I have been raising Cocker Spaniels for 25 years. I presently have a 7 year old chocolate male named Hershey and a 5 year old buff and red called Lucy.
I had noticed over the past 2 years that Hershey was showing some signs of arthritis in his front right leg. This was bothersome since he has always been the athlete of the two. Never going anywhere without his tennis ball. We’d spend hours throwing that ball he would retrieve then await his next fetch.
At first his limp would only be in damp weather but gradually it seemed it was always present, yet he still ran.
Luckily in September of this year I stopped at my breeder Kelly and mentioned my concern over this progressive limp. She asked what I was feeding him and suggested that I switch to the raw food. I must admit I was skeptical. “Oh sure, it’s going to help... Sure, their bowel movements will be less and not smell... Oh Yeah?!" But with the major dog food tampering scare this past year and pets were dying we knew Kelly would not lead us astray.
Well it has been 3 months now that we have changed the pup’s diet completely to the Paws-itively Raw Foods menu. It is amazing the weather is cold and damp, a sure calling for arthritis, but Hershey is completely cured. No sign of any limp. Everything Kelly said has proven to be true. I am amazed over the change in the pups and would promote it to any pet owner.

Cpt. Jack, Shella, Cowboy, and Forrest’s Folks - "We started feeding..."

We started feeding our Jack Russell Terriers Paws-itively Raw Foods diet in October of this year. After fighting what we where told where environmental allergies with our one rescue Jack Russell since we got him in June, I wanted to find another solution since medicating him just didn’t seem to work. Within a week we noticed a huge change in all 3 of our dogs.
Cpt. Jack 1.5 years, rescue from Toronto, His original owners has purchased him as a puppy and he was very ill with parasites. They where able to get him well then adopted him out to us. His main issue was horrible gas. Since starting on RAW we see that he full of constructive energy and is no longer gassing us out of the house. Cpt. Jack is also active in Dock Diving and holds a national novice title.
Shella (aka “little girl") 11 mos. Shella is the only one of our dogs who has NEVER had vaccinations and so far has had no health problems other then the odd down day. Since starting on RAW she is much calmer. She is also much easier to train and is more willing to do what is asked of her. We also noticed we have finally been able to house train her. Shella is currently being trained for agility and obedience.
Cowboy approx. 10-12 mos. Our newest rescue. We have only had Cowboy with us for just over a week. When Cowboy came to use he only weighed 12.8 labs. He was just rated as a 2-3 on body type scale. (the scale goes from 1-9) He is extremely under weight for his size. In the time that he has been here he has been fed nothing but RAW foods. His coat has gone from a yellow color to white, he has started to show more energy and best of all he is putting on weight. As of Friday Nov. 30 he is up to 13.6 lbs. This little guy has a long way to go yet, but we are sure with this diet he will be up to his ideal body weight in no time at all.
Forrest Gumpy 5yrs. Forrest Gumpy is a true testimony of what a Paws-itively RAW diet can do. We adopted Gumpy in Aug of this year after fostering him for a month. He came from a very shaky and sometimes abusive background. When we first brought Gumpy home he had very red and irritated skin. We took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with environmental allergies. All summer he has issues of red skin and irritable bowels. Being an athletic dog with Dock Diving we began to think it was a reaction to the changes in water at events. In October I decided that enough was enough and started him on RAW. Within days, Gumpy stopped chewing in his feet and his skin went from a bright pink to a very light pink. We found the allergy problem. Out of curiosity we fed him a few treats that contained gluten. Within an hour he was chewing on his feet again. October 31 is a day we will never forget. Poor Forrest Gumpy was diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma. He was given just 3 months to live. After his fight to stay alive with all his abuse he was now faced with this horrible cancer. Well just one week later we noticed that his lymph nodes had gone down to the point you had to feel around to find them. Even then, you could only feel the ones under his jaw. Now after a month he is still doing well. The past week we did notice that the lymph nodes under his jaw had swelled again. We did, however, make the connection to his diet. The past week he was not fed any fish at all. Now back on the Herring Stew, he is again doing just amazing. Through his fight with cancer Gumpy is STILL DIVING and RACING. If we did not have him on a RAW diet we know this would not be possible. And to see this little guy making his many jumps over 20 feel long you would never know he was in the middle of the fight for his life

Also with Ultimate Air Dogs Sarah and Gumpy do not run in the Feather weight class. They run with the other big jumping dogs where Gumpy is out weighed by close to 50 lbs. up in the Masters. (To jump Master jumps the dog must jump 20 feet or more).

I am the owner of 2 golden retrievers from different breeders who have been raw fed for 3 years, one since weaning.
Pawsitively Raw products are ideal for people who are busy and want to be sure their dogs eat the best food possible. They are packaged in premium quality plastic tubs, always weigh more than they are supposed to and the quality is dependably consistent. There is good variety, everything is balanced and all you do is open the container and put it in a bowl. Perfect for overnight trips because they do not leak.
My dogs' teeth are white as can be and their coats are commented on all the time. They shed minimally and do not smell. Another interesting thing is that neither one of my dogs eats grass, feces, garbage or tissues - unusual a bit for goldens, but not for raw fed ones where there is vairiety in the diet and plenty of natural enzymes available in the food. Not to mention that the waste produced is at least 1/2 of what kibble feeders deal with.
Compared to any other prepared raw food on the market Pawsitively Raw stands in a class by itself.

The power of a RAW diet cannot be underestimated! Our Portuguese Water Dog, Agua, has been on this diet since the day he was weaned - he is now a 10 year old "puppy". Just wanted to give you an update on how my pups are doing on your food!
I recently contacted you about a month or a month and a half ago to get some more info on how to start feeding you PAWS-itively Raw Food for my French bulldog Dexter, 5 months and my pug/French bulldog cross Laurier (1 year). It was easy to get started on the food and they absolutely LOVE it! They can’t wait for me to dish it out of the container they get so excited! I have since seen an improvement in Dexter’s skin condition and his gas too. Laurier & Dex are as strong as ever and they are just doing so well on this food. Thank you so much for your help in finding the products and explaining how to feed it as well. They love every kind you make from salmon to beef to chicken all equally :)

Sue and Shelbie - "For the "LOVE OF DOG"..."

For the "LOVE OF DOG"...people, feed them raw!!!!! Here's our "poop"...Shelbie, my beautiful minature american eskimo (7 years old) was on dog food for her first four years. One morning we woke up to find blood coming out of her teeth and nose--her skin , as the vet showed me, was purple--not her usual pretty pink colour. I love purple , but not on her! Guelph Univresity gave her 3 blood transfussions-she was internally bleeding to death. Not known why (tested for cancer twice) no cancer. She did eat about 3-4 cans of recalled food at that time???? A greyhounds blood saved her life. Did you know their blood is adaptable to all dogs???!!!! So we now give to greyhound foundations! And Shelbie now runs faster!!! lol After a couple of relapses and vets saying "she is a miracle"---and she is!!!!She will be turning 8 Jan. 1st. After getting her home from Guelph, I started cooking her meat. Pancreatitis from too much rich food (cannot digest cooked fat and medications given with cheese and peanut butter!!!! I didn’t know! So on to raw food from pawsitively raw foods!!! She is perfection!! eyes are bright, fur is thick, soft and shiny, energy, even when she is lying down, always watching me, where as before she slept a lot. I used to hear her belly gurgle at night in bed (yes she sleeps in bed with me!) No more gurgles!!! Her poops are very small and crumble when picked up in bag--so I know all the good stuff is being absorbed and distributed throughout her system...not just coming right out the other end! I recently went to Bush Gardens and watched the feeding of hyena's. Feeder told me they were between ages 12-14 and eat raw "meat balls" packed full of bone and organs and meat----eight each a day. Big hyena, so they don't require huge amounts of food on raw! I honestly believe because of Shelbie's 3 year diet of raw food, she is alive and healthy and continues to be my best friend!!!! I need her more than she needs me...but she needs me very much! I have made the right choices for her...she relies on that! Sue and Shelbie
